Un Rinconcito de Esperanza is a special project I created in partnership with Mi Altar Virtual, designed to support grieving children through culturally grounded connection and expression. Inspired by the traditions of Día de Muertos, this space is where memory becomes medicine — and where children are encouraged to honor their loved ones in ways that feel meaningful to them.
As a therapist, educator, and someone who knows the ache of early loss, I’ve witnessed the power of cultural rituals in the healing process. Un Rinconcito de Esperanza offers a soft place for children to land — one that embraces who they are, where they come from, and who they’ve lost.
Through storytelling, altar-making, creative activities, and gentle guidance, children are invited to connect with their grief in ways that feel safe, age-appropriate, and culturally respectful. This collaboration with Mi Altar Virtual allows us to make grief support more accessible, especially for Latino families who may be seeking tools that reflect their values, language, and traditions.
Whether you’re a caregiver, teacher, or community member, this page is a window into how we’re blending tradition and therapeutic support to walk alongside grieving children — with light, culture, and esperanza.
